Snowboarding in Arosa
225 kilometres of pistes, the snowpark at Tschuggen and wide-open slopes – in Arosa from around 1,800 metres up to 2,653 metres on the Weisshorn. Arosa Lenzerheide is built for snowboarders.
A ski area that suits the board
Arosa Lenzerheide has 225 kilometres of slopes – 110 km blue, 87 km red and 28 km black. This distribution is a stroke of luck for snowboarders: almost half the area is wide, evenly angled and beautifully groomed. Exactly the terrain where the first turn succeeds and, later, the long carving turn develops.
In Arosa the ski area starts at around 1,800 metres and reaches the Weisshorn (2,653 m); the highest point of the whole destination is the Parpaner Rothorn at 2,865 metres. The area is served by aerial tramways, gondolas and chairlifts, with only a few surface lifts. Anyone who has spent a day on a T-bar knows how much that is worth. In Arosa the surface lifts are essentially Tomeli, Tschuggen-West, Ried and Prätschli – everywhere else you ride up sitting or standing.

Three reasons to grab a board in Arosa
Not every ski area is equally snowboard-friendly. Arosa is, for three very concrete reasons.
Hardly any drag lifts
For snowboarders, the surface lift is the least pleasant way up the mountain. Arosa Lenzerheide runs aerial tramways, gondolas and chairlifts and only a few surface lifts – in Arosa essentially Tomeli, Tschuggen-West, Ried and Prätschli, while everywhere else you ride up sitting or standing. A day in the area means: get on, sit down, get off at the top.
Wide, gentle slopes
The wide blue pistes at Tschuggen and Plattenhorn are easy to read – important, because on a board you are always looking at an angle to your direction of travel. For the first few days that means more space, less oncoming traffic and far more calm while practising.
Two areas, one ticket
Since 2014 the Urdenbahn has connected the Hörnligrat (2,496 m) with the Urdenfürggli (2,562 m) – 1,682 metres of cable, two cabins for 150 people each, around 5 minutes per ride. A morning in Arosa, an afternoon in Lenzerheide: that is not a day trip, it is one lift ride.

Slope & carving
This is where snowboarding begins: first turns, first edges, first controlled arcs. The wide blue pistes at Tschuggen and Plattenhorn offer enough space to build confidence and refine your riding step by step. From your first slide to a clean carving turn.
Snowpark & freestyle
The snowpark at Tschuggen is home to the Arosa freestyle scene: two lines with rollers, banks, obstacles and kickers, varied in design and suitable for every level. We practise on the ground first, then on the box, then in the air – with technique rather than courage alone.
Freeriding & powder
Free terrain begins right next to the piste. Arosa offers plenty of options away from the marked runs – from a first excursion off-piste to demanding freeride descents. We show you the right terrain and guide you with avalanche equipment, local knowledge and a clear eye on the avalanche bulletin.
The Arosa Lenzerheide snowpark
The destination runs its freestyle facilities under one roof: five areas spread across both sides of the valley. The centrepiece on the Arosa side is the Snowpark Tschuggen to the right of piste 15, reached via the Tschuggen-Ost chairlift or the Tomeli surface lift. It is split into two lines; the set-up is varied and playful and works for every level: rollers, banks, obstacles and kickers.
Right next to it is the Wood Ranch – a CO2-neutral nature park, built from Arosa fir wood and funded through crowdfunding. And for the youngest children, there is the Bärensnowpark at the Ried drag lift: four adventure pistes, free of charge and open to the public.

Freeriding in Arosa
Arosa offers plenty of options for descents away from the marked pistes. Anyone heading into open terrain leaves the secured ski area and takes responsibility for their own safety. Avalanche equipment, current conditions and a sound assessment of the terrain are therefore always part of it.
Open snowsports terrain
Everything outside the marked slopes counts as open snowsports terrain. It is not patrolled, not secured, and not protected against avalanches – the mountain lifts accept no liability for it. Freeride checkpoints with current avalanche information are located throughout the area.
Out with a guide
Our freeride lessons take place as private lessons: full-day rate from CHF 486 for one person, CHF 10 for each additional person, maximum eight participants. Complete avalanche equipment – transceiver, shovel and probe – is included in the price.
Respect for wildlife
Winter is the toughest season for chamois, black grouse and ptarmigan. Every flight costs energy reserves that cannot be replaced. Wildlife protection zones are therefore binding – we deliberately plan our routes around them.
Practical information for your snowboarding day
Rent board & boots
Snowboards including boots are available right in the village at Gisler Sport and its Bananas Ski & Snowboard Center, at Schmid Sport, El Grito Sports, Intersport Arosa and at Carmenna Sport. Depending on the shop and category, boards start at around CHF 35 per day and children’s boards at around CHF 15. Current prices and availability are available directly from each shop.
Ski pass & snowpark ticket
The lift pass is not included in the course price and must be purchased separately. Tickets are mainly available at the main office of the Arosa Bergbahnen and at the Weisshorn valley station, as well as online in the ticket shop of Arosa Lenzerheide. There is also a separate day ticket for the snowpark from CHF 15. No lift pass is needed in the Kinderland.
A break on the mountain
Over 25 mountain restaurants and huts right in the ski area can be reached on skis and are perfect for a break – from a self-service Beizli to the 360° panorama restaurant on the summit of the Weisshorn (2,653 m).
Contests, sessions and camps
Arosa has an active freestyle scene. Dates for the 2026/27 season will be published in autumn – these events take place regularly.
Freestyle contest
The Arosa Lenzerheide contest is for freeski and snowboard children aged 7 to 16 and takes place once in Snowpark Arosa and once in Snowpark Lenzerheide. Entry fee CHF 35 per participant; the field is limited to 50 places.
Wood Ranch session
The nature park made of Arosa spruce wood gets its own event – a relaxed jib day without a start list or timing, where the scene around the wooden features comes together. The season ends with the Seasons End Celebration at Snowpark Arosa.
Camps in the park
Chixxs on Board runs a freestyle camp for beginners in the Snowpark Arosa, with a maximum of 14 participants. The Arosa Freestyle association also supports young talent in the park, and the freestyle community regularly comes to Arosa via the Eastside Tour.

From age 7, Sunday to Friday. Children and adults are taught together in the snowboard course, with groups formed on site according to level. The full-day course runs from 09:45 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:15. The afternoon course takes place from 14:00 to 16:15. The meeting point is the Skischulzentrum Innerarosa (Blue League) or the Tschuggen meeting point (Red and Black League), 10 minutes before the course starts.
Group lessons from 3 people; groups may be combined during low season. Until and including 31.10., you receive a 10% discount on snowsports courses and season passes; from 1.11., a 5% discount applies when booking up to 30 days before the course starts. Lift tickets must be purchased separately. Extension day from 3 course days, extension lesson from 3 lessons. Lunch is reserved by email at fun@sssa.ch. Tickets are personal and non-transferable.
Private snowboard lessons
Private lessons can be booked daily – alone or with up to 6 people at the same price. Up to 8 people are possible on the full-day rate; each additional person costs CHF 10 extra.
The full-day rate from 10:00 to 16:00 includes a one-hour lunch break. For a short session, a 55-minute individual lesson is available; this lesson is mainly aimed at our young guests. Supervision at the Innerarosa ski school centre: morning including lunch CHF 100, afternoon including afternoon snack CHF 65.

When do the snowboard group lessons take place?
From Sunday to Friday, no lessons on Saturday. Mornings from 09:45 to 12:00, afternoons from 14:00 to 16:15.
What does a snowboard group lesson cost?
A group course starts at CHF 162 for three half days (starting price). You will find binding prices in the booking system.
From what age does snowboarding make sense?
We recommend snowboarding lessons from around 7 years, once strength and coordination are sufficient for the board. Younger children usually start on skis.
Where can I practise freestyle in Arosa?
In Snowpark Tschuggen, in the Wood Ranch and in the Bärensnowpark. For freeride terrain we head up to the Weisshorn with you.
How many people are in a group?
Maximum 8 people, grouped by level, not by age.
