Snowboarding requires a lot of patience in the first hours: falling is part of it, and how quickly balance comes varies from person to person. In a private lesson, no one has to keep to the group's pace – the instructor stays with an exercise for as long as makes sense for you, and moves on exactly when you're ready.
This applies to every level: from the basic stance to the first linked turn, right through to carving turns and the first jumps in the snowpark. The lesson is booked alone or with up to 6 people of similar ability.

From first slides to freestyle
Your starting point depends on your ability. These three levels show what is typically covered.
Beginners
Fitting the equipment, standing up, sliding on the heel and toe edge and the first controlled braking turn. The practice area in the children's area is ideal for this.
Advanced
Linked turns on blue and red pistes, clean edge changes and first runs on varied terrain. Riding switch backwards is also part of this level.
Carving & freestyle
Carving turns with a steep edge angle, riding in deep snow, or the first tricks and jumps in the snowpark – guided by an instructor who sees exactly where corrections are needed.
When private lessons pay off especially well
Snowboarding has a steep initial learning curve with many individual differences. In these cases, private lessons pay off especially well.
Little time on site
Anyone with just a long weekend or a few days makes noticeably faster progress without waiting for other group members.
Fear of falling
Especially at the start, it helps to practise without an audience. The instructor’s full attention takes the pressure off the first attempts.
Focused technique work
Anyone stuck on a specific point – such as riding switch, carving or the first jump in the park – progresses faster in private lessons with direct feedback.
How a private lesson works
Brief conversation
At the meeting point, the instructor establishes your ability, preferences and goals – including whether you already know your preferred stance (regular or goofy).
Practising on suitable terrain
From the flat practice slope in the children's area to the snowpark – the terrain is continually adapted to your progress.
Feedback at the end
At the end there is an assessment of your level and tips on what you can practise on your own before the next lesson.
Equipment, group size and meeting point
Equipment
Board, bindings and boots are not included in the lesson and can be rented from the sports shops in Arosa. A softer board suits beginners best.
Group size
A private lesson can be booked for one person or for up to 6 people of a similar ability at the same price. Up to 8 people are possible only for the Skisafari and circular tours. Each additional person costs CHF 10 extra when booking a full day.
Meeting point & date
The meeting point is arranged individually, usually at the Skischulzentrum Innerarosa or at the Tschuggen meeting area. Please arrive 5 minutes before the lesson starts. In the high season and over public holidays, early booking is worthwhile.
Snowboard private lessons – price levels

A private lesson can be booked alone or with up to 6 people at the same price; up to 8 people are possible only for the Skisafari and circular tours. Each additional person costs CHF 10 extra when booking a full day. We recommend booking early during high season and public holidays, as instructors book up quickly.

Prices follow the private ski lesson rate: from CHF 90 for a 55-minute individual lesson to CHF 486 for the full-day rate, in each case starting prices for 1 to 6 people.
Do I need my own snowboard?
No. Boards, bindings and boots can be hired from sports shops in Arosa. For beginners, we recommend a softer beginner board, which the sports shops can provide on request.
How early should I book a snowboard private lesson?
During peak season and over public holidays, instructors are quickly fully booked. Booking or enquiring a few weeks in advance secures you the time you want.
