In a private lesson, you get your snowsports instructor’s undivided attention. There’s no waiting for other group members and no need to accommodate an average pace – every exercise, every slope and every piece of feedback is tailored to you or your group. That applies just as much to the first snowplough turn in the children’s area as to the final refinement of a carving turn.
You can book the lesson alone or together with up to 6 people of similar ability, at an individually arranged meeting point. This makes it easy to combine lessons with your holiday plans, mountain lift rides or the pace of the whole family.

From the first turn to perfecting your skills
In private lessons, your current ability determines where you start – not a fixed course plan. These three levels show what is typically covered.
Beginners
Gliding, braking, finding the snowplough turn, and using the first lift on your own. We start on flat practice terrain, with no time pressure and no need for advanced skiers to wait.
Advanced
Parallel ski position, short and long turns, first red slopes. Here we work specifically on whatever has been holding you back so far – whether balance, edge control or speed.
Refinement
Carving, moguls, deep snow or racing technique. At this level, it is about fine-tuning: movement quality, timing and the last few percent of safety on steep terrain.
When private lessons pay off especially well
The group lesson is a good and affordable choice for many guests. In these situations, however, the private lesson is often the better solution.
Limited time
Anyone spending only a few days in Arosa who wants to make maximum progress in that time benefits from an individual pace rather than the schedule of a multi-day group lesson.
Families with different levels
Instead of splitting the family across two or three group lessons, one instructor skis with everyone together and switches between levels where needed.
Focused technique work
Anyone stuck on a specific point – such as switching in short turns or riding in deep snow – progresses faster in private lessons than at group pace.
How a private lesson works
The process is based on your level and goals, but always follows the same basic pattern.
Brief conversation
At the meeting point, the instructor establishes your ability, your wishes and any limitations – so the lesson is built up sensibly from the first minute.
Practising on suitable terrain
Depending on level, you head to the children's area, blue or red slopes, or gentle open terrain. The instructor adapts exercises and pace as you go.
Feedback at the end
At the end of the lesson, the instructor sums up your progress and gives tips on what to keep practising until the next lesson.
Equipment, group size and meeting point
Equipment
Skis, poles and ski boots are not included in the lesson and can be rented at the sports shops in Arosa. Bringing your own equipment is of course welcome.
Group size
A private lesson can be booked for one person or for up to 6 people of a similar ability at the same price. Up to 8 people are possible only for the Skisafari and circular tours. Each additional person costs CHF 10 extra when booking a full day.
Meeting point & date
The meeting point is arranged individually, usually at the Skischulzentrum Innerarosa or at the Tschuggen meeting area. Please arrive 5 minutes before the lesson starts. In the high season and over public holidays, early booking is worthwhile.

All prices apply to 1 to 6 people of similar ability. These are from-prices; the binding prices are shown in the booking system.
A private lesson can be booked alone or with up to 6 people at the same price; up to 8 people are possible only for the Skisafari and circular tours. A lesson costs the same price for up to 6 people of a similar ability. Up to 8 people are possible on the full-day rate; each additional person costs CHF 10 extra. This means a private lesson for two or for a family can quickly be more affordable than expected.

Prices start at CHF 90 for a 55-minute individual lesson and go up to CHF 486 for the full-day rate from 10:00 to 16:00. These are starting prices for 1 to 6 people; the booking system shows binding prices.
Do I need to bring my own ski equipment?
No. Skis, poles and ski boots can be rented at the sports shops in Arosa. Those who ski regularly often bring their own ski boots and only rent the skis – this often already improves the fit and therefore the technique.
How early should I book ski private lessons?
In the high season and over holidays, our instructors are quickly booked up, especially in the morning. We recommend booking or enquiring about the lesson a few weeks in advance so that your preferred time is available.
